Most US stocks pay quarterly. The 'monthly average' here just divides the annual figure by 12 for budgeting; you won't actually receive that exact amount each month.
Is high yield always better?+
No. Yields above 6–7% often signal a struggling company where the price has dropped faster than the dividend has been cut. High yield can be a yield trap.
