Molarity Calculator

Solve M = n / V for any unknown.

Molarity (M)
0.2500 mol/L

Mass to moles helper

Molarity is moles of solute divided by liters of solution: M = n / V. NaCl has a molar mass of 58.44 g/mol; that's the default. To make a 1 M NaCl solution in 1 L water, dissolve 58.44 g.

About

Enter any two of molarity, moles, and volume; the tool solves for the third. Includes a mass-to-moles helper that takes grams and molar mass. Default molar mass is 58.44 g/mol (NaCl).

How to use

  1. Pick what you're solving for.
  2. Fill in the other two values.
  3. Read the answer.

FAQ

How do I prep a 1 M NaCl in 500 mL?+

1 M means 1 mol per 1 L. So you need 0.5 mol of NaCl, which is 0.5 × 58.44 = 29.22 g. Dissolve in less water than the target, then top off to 500 mL.
