Resistors Series & Parallel

Series and parallel total of any number of resistors.

Resistor values (Ω)

In series
790.00 Ω
In parallel
59.98 Ω

Series resistance adds: R = R1 + R2 + ... Parallel resistance: 1/R = 1/R1 + 1/R2 + ... Two equal parallel resistors give half the value. Use parallel for high-current paths, series for voltage division.

About

Add up to a dozen resistor values. The tool computes total resistance in both series (sum) and parallel (reciprocal sum) configurations. Auto-formats from ohms to kilo-ohms to mega-ohms.

How to use

  1. Add resistor values.
  2. Read series and parallel totals.

FAQ

When do I use which?+

Series for voltage division (each resistor drops a portion of the voltage). Parallel to lower total resistance and split current. Multiple equal parallel resistors give R/N total.
