FAQ

Why is a 12 oz IPA more than one standard drink?+

A standard 5% beer is one drink. A 7% IPA is the same volume but more alcohol, so about 1.4 standard drinks. The difference adds up over an evening.

Are UK and US standard drinks the same?+

No. US is 14 g of pure alcohol, UK is 8 g (called a 'unit'), Australia is 10 g. Convert before comparing safe-drinking guidelines across countries.
