Steep
4:00
Black: 212°F / 100°C · 4:00 steep · 1 tsp / 8 oz
Boil water. Bitter if oversteeped.
Times are starting points. Adjust for your taste: longer for stronger, shorter if it goes bitter. Most teas hold up to 3 to 5 re-steeps. Use larger leaves and looser packing for the best second steep.

FAQ
Why doesn't green tea use boiling water?+
Green tea has delicate amino acids that scorch above 180°F (80°C). Boiling water makes it bitter and grassy. Black and herbal teas hold up to a full boil.
